- D2D raised Rs. 34,45,000/- (Rupees thirty four lacs forty five thousand only)
- Every rupee raised from D2D Chennai Night Marathon was donated to Love Your
- Liver Foundation for the benefit of the childrens’ transplantation
‘Dusk to Dawn Chennai Night Marathon 2014’ was held on Saturday, 22nd November 2014, which is the second Night Marathon held in India next to Bangalore. It was an event which had various running categories: 1 Km for Transplant patients, 3 Km, 5 Km, 10 Km and 21 Km for participants. The turnout for the first night Marathon was amazing where we had about 6300 plus participants taking part. All these pariticipants had registered through online paying a registration fee of Rs.650/-
D2D raised Rs. 34,45,000/- from Dusk to Dawn Chennai Night Marathon 2014, will use these funds for the primary objective of this event to raise awareness on Organ donation for children who are in need of organ donation / transplantation for Centre for Liver Disease & Transplantation, Apollo Hospitals.
Dusk to Dawn Chennai Night Marathon 2014 was flagged-off by Actor Surya at 10 pm at Island Ground. It was a privilege to have with us:
- Dr. Prathap C. Reddy – Chairman-Apollo Hospitals,
- Dr. Preetha Reddy – Vice-Chairman-Apollo Hospitals,
- Dr. Suneeta Reddy – Managing Director-Apollo Hospitals and
- Dr. Anand Khakar, Apollo Hospitals, Program Director & Sr. Consultant, CLDT.
The event was fully supported by Running and Cycling community of Chennai – Chennai Runners, Dream Runners, Cool Runners, Tamil Nadu Cycling Club, Chennai Trekking Club and many other individual running friends supported this memorable event.
Our D2D team has always been particular about the flag-off time, and we continued to follow that in this event also. We were ready to be flagged off at 10:00 pm, but the Police department wanted us to hold on for few more minutes, as they had to clear particular area, and then the 21 Km was flagged off at 10:04:09 pm followed by 10 Km, 5 Km, 3 Km and 1 Km for the patients.
There are many people need to be thanked who have been working behind the screens to make it a memorable event for the D2D. Our heartfelt thanks go to hundred of volunteers, individuals, various running groups, Chennai Police, and the Race Directors. Wish to thank hundreds of volunteers who came forward to support and help both the times at the Bib distribution, at the venue, marshalling the event, thank you so much Volunteers for your kind help and support, which means a lot to our team. Thank you again!
The Night Marathon was created for bringing awareness and raise funds for a cause!! Our objective is to help many children who need our help to give them a new life.
