Appointed by Bal Sanjeevani as Brand Ambassador along with Mr. Ashok Amritraj, Hollywood Film Producer. Covered a distance of more than 154 km with running and cycling team-mates in a 12 hour period.

Raised Rs. 50,19,066/- for Bal Sanjeevani’s Cerebral Palsy Unit

Neville’s Dawn to Dusk 2013’ was held on Sunday, 13th January, 2013. It was a 12 hour event, focusing on raising funds for Bal Sanjeevani, which provides therapeutic services and support facilities to aid babies and children affected by Cerebral Palsy. Most of these children at Bal Sanjeevani are from low income families.

With the funds raised from Neville’s Dawn to Dusk 2013, Bal Sanjeevani has been able to appoint qualified therapists, including speech and occupational therapists. The funds also helped procure splints, wheelchairs, other walking-aids, Botox injections and Therasuits. The ‘Therasuit’ is a soft dynamic proprioceptive orthotic usually worn by children with spasticity. Originally designed for astronauts, the ‘Therasuit’ provides these affected children with some stability and particularly benefits their posture.

Dawn to Dusk 2013 was flagged-off at 9.45 am by His Excellency Dr. K Rosaiah, The Governor of Tamil Nadu. Prof. Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthy, Director IIT Madras, was instrumental in the event being held at IIT. Saarang 2013 students, Chennai Runners, Dream Runners, Cool Runners, Tamil Nadu Cycling Club, Chennai Trekking Club, Radisson Blu, Round Table India, Rotary Club of Ambattur, Sparrc Institute, Students of Hindustan University and many other individual running friends took part in this memorable event.

Kids Run was successfully introduced for the first time in Neville’s Dawn to Dusk and was supported by the volunteers from the Chennai Trekking Club. There were more than 185 registrations for the Kids Run.

The running session was concluded at 3.45 pm and the cycling phase kicked off at 3.50 pm. The cycling session was flagged-off by Mr. Sudhakar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Adyar Range, Chennai, Prof Dr. Bhaskar Ramamurthy, Director-IIT, and Mr. Karun Chandhok, India’s Ace F1 Driver & Brand Ambassador-TI Cycles. The participation of 138 cyclists made this phase a remarkable success. The cyclists rode from IIT via Mahabalipuram and finished at the Radisson Blu GRT Hotel, St.Thomas Mount at 9.50pm.

A black-tie sit-down dinner and musical evening was held at Radisson Blu Hotel GRT Chennai in association with Neville’s Dawn to Dusk 2013. “MUSIC FOR THE EYES“, drew many donors and nearly 10 lacs were raised for ‘God’s Own Children’ through the dinner and musical evening. Pianist Anil Srinivasan and Carnatic singer, Sikkil Gurucharan supported by visual illustrations done by cartoonist Biswajit Balasubramaniam were a hit with the 75 couples who participated in the dinner.

The 12 hour running and cycling event combined with the black-tie dinner and musical night brought in Rs.50,19,066/- as funds for Bal Sanjeevani’s Cerebral Palsy Unit.
