DUSK TO DAWN CHENNAI NIGHT MARATHON 2015 -16
The Dusk to Dawn Chennai Night Marathon 2015-16 was held on Saturday, 11th June 2016, which is the 5th edition of D2D Marathon. The event was supposed to be held on 28th November 2015 and due to the floods in Chennai the event was postponed to a new date new date was announced on 11th June 2016 on event was complied. The D2D Marathon was conducted in aid of the project Freedom Through Education supported by Round Table India in bringing awareness of Education for children and raising funds towards building toilet blocks.
D2D Team and Round Table India along with Area II conducting the second Dusk to Dawn Chennai Night Marathon after receiving an overwhelming response for the event held in 2014.
- About 4500 participants
- Children below 16 years – 400 / 8.89%
- Men – 3120 / 69.33% + Women – 980 / 21.78%
- D2D raised Rs.51,00,000/- (Rupees Fifty one lac only)
- Every rupee raised from D2D Chennai Night Marathon is donated towards building classrooms and toilet blocks for the underprivileged children
It was an event which had various running categories: 3Km, 5Km, 10Km and 21Km for participants.
The D2D event also had cycling event for various distances: 25Km, 50Km, 75Km, 100Km, 100Km plus. This is the first time Chennai witnessed maximum participation for a cycling event which crossed 630 participants which is the highest till date in South India.
The turnout overall was good for the Night Marathon and we had about 4500 plus participants taking part in the Chennai’s most awaited D2D Marathon 2015-16.
D2D raised Rs.51 lacs from Dusk to Dawn Chennai Night Marathon 2015-16, and the funds will be used to support education of underprivileged children by building new classrooms and toilet blocks.
Dusk to Dawn Chennai Night Marathon 2015-16 was flagged-off by our Chief Guest Actor Suriya at 10 pm at Island Ground, Chennai
- Actor Suriya also ran and picked up his first marathon medal at D2D Marathon.

The D2D running event was fully supported by the Running community of Chennai: Chennai Runners, Dream Runners, Cool Runners, Chennai Trekking Club and Marina Runnerz and many other individual running friends supported this memorable event.
The D2D Cycling event was supported by Tamil Nadu Cycling Club (TCC) and Just Buy Cycles.
Both these Running and Cycling groups have been supporting D2D for the 5 editions.
D2D is an initiative by like-minded souls who have come forward to bring awareness on the worthy causes and to raise funds mainly for the underprivileged children through the event of D2D.
D2D has also inspired many runners to run for a cause at different times for the underprivileged children and many charitable organizations. Through running and cycling activities, D2D has found numberless ways to help the less privileged children and has inspired thousands of veteran and first-time runners to run for a cause.
2015-2016 D2D team and Round Table India raising funds for educating the underprivileged children through Freedom Through Education Project of Round Table India. Round Table India’s objective is to Provide quality education and infrastructure to the underprivileged by mobilizing resources in partnership with leading organisations and benevolent citizens of India.
D2D has been associating with Chennai Runners, Dream Runners and Cool Runners since its inception in 2012. The entire community has shown large support to the event and these are highly motivating and enthusiastic running groups creating awareness to stay healthy through the sport of running.
These running groups have motivated and inspired thousands of good souls to keep fit and healthy!!
TAMIL NADU CYCLING CLUB (TCC)
Our Cycling Partner is the largest cycling club in India with over 7,300 members on its Facebook page. In line with its vision, TCC promotes cycling across all walks of life and encourages cycling for good health, for green environment and as a sport. Annually, TCC conducts 30+ cycling events over six categories (Recreation, Endurance, Cyclogy, Touring, Adventure and Competitive) including its flagship event “Tour of Tamilnadu”.
TCC is proud to be associated with Neville’s D2D event since its inception in 2012 and is an honour to be part of the impeccable growth and popularity of this great initiative and cycling for a charitable cause. TCC, in co-operation and support from the entire cycling community, has successfully conducted the events over years keeping safety as the top most priority and the motto being “No Helmet No Ride”
D2D is honoured to have TCC who play an active part to promote the vision of D2D.
CLEAN CHENNAI CAMPAIGN (CCC)
A clean city is the first step to moving towards healthy living practices in alignment with the objectives of D2D marathon. We are also happy to associate with CCC campaign to bring awareness to the people of Chennai through the D2D event to keep our city clean and lead a healthy life.
Clean Chennai is an initiative to catalyse a city-wide shift in citizens’ attitudes towards solid waste – ownership, treatment, and management. The aim is to engage the active support of all stakeholders – residents, commercial establishments, institutions and all others – to manage waste in an ecologically, socially, and economically sustainable manner. The first phase of the campaign targets the habit and attitude to littering, reaching out to citizens to recognize their role and shared responsibility in creating a clean and sustainable environment in the city.
